We decided that celebrating the 4th of July would mean more if we went to the American cemetery where those who fought for our freedom lost their lives.
It was the most beautiful area of Manila I have seen and didn't realize existed. You can't imagine the contrast of beauty and the horrors of poverty that exist right next to each other.
The grounds were immaculate!
The names of those who perished and remains were not found are written on the walls. Those who remains were identified are buried on the grounds.
A perfect place to celebrate the 4th.
The center of the memorial.
This picture is inside the memorial and is completely done in mosaic tiles. All of the memorial maps of different battles were all done in mosaic. It was really amazing.
We all got together for a barbecue at the apt.complex later in the day.The Boeheme's let us in a sing along of really old songs but I knew them all.
Roasting marshmallows on the barbecue used to cook over 20 burgers. President Wong was also cooking bananas on it.I'm using a knife as a skewer.Summer is not complete without roasting a marshmallow.
